1. Introduction

CorteXion LLC (“CorteXion,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of all individuals who interact with our website, services, and communications. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website at cortexion.co, use our services, or communicate with us by phone, email, or text message.

By using our website or services, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the website or use our services.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect information that you voluntarily provide when you submit a consultation request or contact form, schedule an appointment through our online scheduling platform, subscribe to our newsletter, communicate with us via email, phone, or text message, or provide medical records or case materials for expert review.

This information may include your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, professional affiliation, and any information you choose to include in your communications with us.

When you visit our website, our hosting infrastructure automatically records standard technical information in server logs, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and dates and times of visits. Site analytics are measured with a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service that reports aggregate usage only; we do not use web beacons or advertising trackers, and we do not build individual visitor profiles.

When you call the practice's main line, your call may be answered by an automated front-desk assistant. Calls are recorded and may be transcribed, as disclosed at the beginning of each call, and recordings, transcripts, and voice messages you choose to leave are retained as business records of the practice on secured, access-controlled systems.

4.1 Consent and Opt-In

By providing your mobile phone number and expressly consenting to receive text messages from CorteXion LLC — whether through our website contact form, scheduling platform, or verbal consent during a telephone call — you agree to receive text messages from us related to appointment scheduling, case status updates, and other communications relevant to our professional engagement. 4.7 No Sharing of Mobile Information

4.8 Supported Carriers

Our text messaging services are supported by major U.S. carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Service availability may be limited depending on your carrier and plan.

5. Protected Health Information

CorteXion LLC is a medical expert witness practice and may receive medical records and protected health information (PHI) in connection with case reviews. Any PHI received is handled in accordance with applicable federal and state privacy laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), to the extent applicable to our role in litigation support.

Medical records and case materials are transmitted via HIPAA-compliant secure upload platforms (e.g., Tresorit) and are stored using systems that maintain HIPAA and SOC 2 compliant safeguards, including encryption at rest and in transit, access controls, audit logging, and secure disposal procedures, with business associate agreements in place with infrastructure providers where required. PHI is used solely for the purpose of expert review and is not disclosed to any party other than retaining counsel except as required by law or court order.

6. Disclosure of Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: With trusted third-party vendors who assist in operating our website, scheduling platform, or communication systems, subject to confidentiality obligations
  • Legal requirements: When disclosure is required by law, regulation, court order, or subpoena
  • Professional obligations: As necessary to fulfill our obligations in connection with a litigation matter for which we have been retained
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of the transaction

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website does not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or retargeting technologies. Site analytics are collected by a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service that measures aggregate traffic only and does not identify individual visitors.

Embedded third-party services, such as our scheduling platform, may set cookies of their own that are necessary for those services to function. You may control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect those embedded features.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. These measures include encryption of data in transit, secure file storage platforms, and access controls limiting information access to authorized personnel.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, comply with legal and professional obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Case-related materials are retained in accordance with applicable legal hold and professional record-keeping requirements.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:

  • Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction: You may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Deletion: You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal and professional retention requirements
  • Opt-out of communications: You may opt out of text messages by replying STOP, or contact us to update your communication preferences

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at operations@cortexion.co or (505) 520-0500. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.

11. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to third-party websites or services, including scheduling platforms and secure file-sharing services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access through our website.

12. Children’s Privacy

Our website and services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

13. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), provides you with additional rights regarding your personal information. This section supplements the information contained in this Privacy Policy and applies solely to visitors, users, and others who reside in the State of California.

In the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email address, phone number, mailing address), professional or employment-related information, internet or other electronic network activity information (browsing history, interactions with our website), and information you voluntarily provide in connection with a case engagement.

Subject to certain exceptions, California residents have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected, used, disclosed, or sold
  • Delete your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions
  • Correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your CCPA/CPRA rights

CorteXion LLC does not sell, and has not sold in the preceding 12 months, any personal information of consumers as defined by the CCPA/CPRA. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes. To submit a verifiable consumer request, please contact us at operations@cortexion.co or (505) 520-0500.

14. Do Not Track Signals

Some web browsers transmit “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals to websites. Because there is currently no industry standard for recognizing or honoring DNT signals, our website does not currently respond to DNT signals. We will update this Privacy Policy if and when a formal DNT standard is adopted. We treat Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as valid opt-out requests; because we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, no additional processing restriction is triggered when a GPC signal is received.

15. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This Privacy Policy and any disputes arising out of or related to it shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New Mexico, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding related to this Privacy Policy shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

16. Accessibility

CorteXion LLC is committed to ensuring that our website and digital communications are accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities. We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. If you experience any difficulty accessing content on our website or require information in an alternative format, please contact us at operations@cortexion.co or (505) 520-0500 and we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your needs.

17. Disclaimer — No Medical or Legal Advice

The content on this website, including all blog posts, articles, case discussions, and educational materials, is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. Nothing on this website constitutes medical advice, clinical recommendations, a medical diagnosis, or a treatment plan. The information presented reflects the independent expert opinions of the author and should not be relied upon as a substitute for consultation with a qualified healthcare provider.

18. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
